Icon Rocklear Care Guide

Icon Rocklear Care Guide

Thank you for trusting Rite-Way Auto Reconditioning with your Icon Rocklear application. Please review the following care instructions to get the best results and to keep your warranty valid.

Right After Your Appointment

  • Be gentle. Icon Rocklear takes 30 days to fully cure. Avoid rubbing on painted surfaces during this time.
  • No car washes for 31 days. You may rinse with water only starting on day 7.
  • After 31 days, bring your vehicle in for a free inspection wash. We’ll check the coating’s hydrophilic properties and manually level any high spots. This is also when your warranty is officially set up and activated.

Ongoing Maintenance

Maintaining the coating is simple: regular washing with mild soap and water is all that’s needed to keep your vehicle looking its best.

While we don’t recommend it as a first choice, you can feel at ease taking your car to a local automated car wash. This may cause some light scratches or swirl marks to eventually appear on top of the coated surface. Unlike a traditional ceramic coating, these light imperfections can be polished out and repaired. One thing to know: damage from automatic, handheld, or spinning-brush car washes is not covered under the manufacturer warranty, so while it’s not a big deal cosmetically, any correction from that kind of wash would be at your cost rather than a warranty claim.

We recommend a professional maintenance wash at least every 6 months to keep the coating performing and looking its best.

Warranty Coverage

Icon Rocklear’s manufacturer coverage runs from 5 years up to lifetime, depending on the duration registered at the time of install. Rite-Way’s standard program backs the coating with up to a 15-year warranty, activated at your 31-day post-install inspection.

To keep the warranty valid, the coating must be inspected within 18 months of application. This inspection is your responsibility to schedule, and a copy of the inspection report must be forwarded to Icon Rocklear’s head office. Missing this step will void the warranty.

What’s not covered under the manufacturer warranty:

  • Damage from automatic, handheld, or spinning-brush car washes
  • Stone chips, collision damage, or fire
  • Willful or negligent damage
  • Contact with acid, heavy chemicals, fuels, bleach, paint, inks, dyes, oil, or other corrosive substances
  • Dust particles or dirt debris
  • Repainted or repaired panels, or accessories added after the coating was applied

The warranty is not valid over previously painted or blended surfaces, or when Icon Rocklear is applied over another manufacturer’s coating. Because of the coating’s thickness, appearance may differ slightly from a factory finish, this is expected and not a defect.

If you need to make a warranty claim, bring your vehicle back to the location where Icon Rocklear was applied. We’ll handle the rest of the process on your behalf, including the inspection and any required paperwork with Icon Rocklear’s claims team.
