Ceramic Coating Care Guide

Ceramic Coating Care Guide

Thank you for trusting Rite-Way Auto Reconditioning to protect your vehicle. Please review the following care instructions to get the best results from your ceramic coating and to keep your warranty valid.

Right After Your Appointment

  • Be gentle. Your ceramic coating takes 30 days to fully cure. Avoid rubbing on painted surfaces during this time.
  • No car washes for 30 days.
  • After 7 days, bring your vehicle in for a free inspection wash. We’ll check the coating’s hydrophilic properties and manually level any high spots. This is also when your warranty is officially set up.
  • After 31 days, you can wash the vehicle using your preferred method. We recommend hand washing or touchless washing. Automated drive-through car washes with stiff brushes could potentially cause swirl marks.

Ongoing Maintenance

To keep your ceramic coating performing and looking its best, we recommend a professional maintenance wash at least every 6 months. Our maintenance service includes a thorough hand wash, chemical decontamination to remove bonded contaminants, and the application of a premium ceramic topper to restore gloss, enhance water beading, and maximize the coating’s performance and longevity.

Regular maintenance helps preserve the appearance, performance, and long-term durability of your investment.

Warranty Coverage — What’s Actually Included

Warranty length depends on which Opti-Coat tier you choose and how old your vehicle is at the time of application:

  • Opti-Coat Ultra Shine: 2 years, for vehicles up to 10 model years old.
  • Opti-Coat Pro: 5 years for vehicles 5 model years old or newer; 3 years for vehicles 6–10 model years old.
  • Opti-Coat Pro Plus: 7 years for vehicles 5 model years old or newer; 3 years for vehicles 6–10 model years old.
  • Vehicles older than 10 model years at the time of application cannot be warrantied.

What’s covered: if the coating is unsatisfactory in protecting your factory paint from environmental damage or etching from water spots (excluding tap or sprinkler water left to dry on the surface), bird droppings, bug splatter, acid rain, industrial fallout, or UV damage and oxidation, we’ll repair and retreat the affected area at no cost, as long as the vehicle has been maintained according to warranty terms.

What’s not covered:

  • Damage from manual or automatic wash brushes
  • Contaminated or abrasive cloths and sponges
  • Water spots or etching caused by tap water or sprinkler water left to dry on the surface
  • Stone chips, scratches, or impact damage
  • Pre-existing damage or deterioration
  • Anything covered under your vehicle manufacturer’s warranty
  • Vehicles used for commercial purposes at any time

The warranty is non-transferable. If you sell the vehicle, the coating does not carry over to the new owner. Any claim must be reported within 30 days of noticing the issue, and all repair or reapplication work must be done by an authorized installer.
