Rustproofing Care Guide
Thank you for trusting Rite-Way Auto Reconditioning to protect your vehicle. Please review the following care instructions to maximize the life of your rustproofing treatment.
What to Expect
- Dripping is normal. Your oil-based rustproofing may drip for a few days after application. This is expected and means the product is continuing to penetrate seams and cavities where rust starts.
- A slight odor is normal. You may notice the smell of the product for a short time after service.
- Exhaust smoke or smell. We take great pride in protecting your exhaust during the application process. However, if a small amount of product reaches the exhaust, you may notice light smoke or an odor when the vehicle first gets hot. This is harmless and will burn off quickly.
Overspray
We take every precaution to prevent overspray on your vehicle.
- Oil-based product: Any residue on painted surfaces will wash off during normal car washing.
- Wax-based product: Any residue can be removed with rubbing alcohol.
If you notice any spots we may have missed, simply let us know, we’ll be happy to remove them.
Wax-Based Undercoating Care (NHOU Boss Wax Hybrid)
- Avoid power washing the underbody for 30 days.
- Avoid automatic car washes with underbody wash for 30 days.
- Your wax coating must be inspected every 2 years to maintain the warranty.
- Internal body cavities should be re-fogged every 2 years for continued protection.
Oil-Based Rustproofing Care (NHOU Oil V3)
- Avoid frequent underbody washes, as they will reduce the life of the coating.
- Avoid directing a pressure washer directly at treated areas whenever possible.
- Oil rustproofing is an annual maintenance service and should be reapplied once every year for maximum protection.
