NHOU Oil V3 vs Boss Wax Hybrid: Which Undercoating Is Right for Your Vehicle?

We apply two NHOU undercoating systems, and people often assume one is just the deluxe version of the other. It isn’t. They’re different products built for different owners. Neither is strictly better. The right one depends on how long you plan to keep the vehicle and how much upkeep you want.

What both include

Every undercoating job starts the same way: a Salts Gone underbody wash to remove the salt already there, frame rail flushing with a frame jet tool, and drying before any product goes on. Then NHOU Oil V3 is injected into the frame rails, rockers, cab corners, doors and other enclosed areas, and applied across the underbody. The Boss Wax Hybrid package includes all of that.

NHOU Oil V3

Oil V3 is a maintenance undercoating. It stays slightly fluid, so it keeps working its way into seams and small scratches and heals over when scratched. It isn’t meant to last forever. It’s meant to be reapplied, every one to two years, and yearly is our recommendation if you run through car washes with an undercarriage spray.

It’s also the better option for a vehicle that already has some surface rust. The oil pushes out moisture and can stop surface rust from spreading. It won’t bring back metal that’s already gone.

Pick Oil V3 if you want solid protection at a lower price and don’t mind coming in each year or two.

NHOU Boss Wax Hybrid

Boss Wax Hybrid adds a wax-and-oil coat over the exposed underbody: frame, suspension, differentials, crossmembers, the underside of the cab and bed. Over about 48 hours it cures into a tough, matte-black barrier, while the oil underneath keeps creeping into seams.

It comes with a lifetime warranty that transfers to the next owner, valid when an authorized NHOU applicator does the work. To keep it, you come back every two years for an inspection ($175), where we touch up damaged areas and reapply cavity oil. Normal touch-ups are covered. Major damage from accidents may not be. Skip an inspection and the warranty is void.

Because the wax needs clean, rust-free metal to bond to, the warranty is generally meant for vehicles about two to three model years old or newer.

Pick Boss Wax Hybrid if you plan to keep the vehicle a long time, want fewer visits, and like the idea of a warranty that helps at trade-in.
